La Selva Group (LSG) is celebrating 40 years of providing premium behavioral health care to the community. In 1979, LSG was one of the very first residential treatment programs certified by the California State Department of Mental Health to provided behavioral health care for adults.

“We firmly believe all people have the ability to improve the quality of their lives, no matter what the circumstances. Motivation and insight, although helpful, are not initially required to begin the change process,” noted Paul Taylor, the La Selva Group Founder.

LSG began with a single Licensed Residential Treatment Program and has expanded to provide services at six different locations, offering 42 beds as well as an outpatient campus, all located in the heart of Palo Alto.

Today, LSG receives referrals from across the nation and is in network with most private insurance groups including Aetna, Anthem, BlueCross/BlueShield, Cigna, Kaiser, Magellan, MHN and Optum.

“At the heart of our success are our amazing clinical teams and their focus on not just what is problematic about someone’s current condition but also their strengths as a person,” explained Jim Millsap, La Selva’s Executive Director for the past 20 years. “La Selva builds on those strengths throughout its multiple levels of care.”

LSG has a 92% success rate transitioning clients into lower levels of care and back to their communities. This momentum continues to push La Selva Group in a positive direction, meeting clients where they are and providing for a hopeful future for the next 40 years and beyond!
